Congratulations to Dave Davies

In 1990 Dave Davies decided to take a break from bowling. 17 years later Dave came into Aloma Lanes Pro shop ready to step back on to the lanes. Dave has worked extremely hard to improve his game since April 2007. Dave continues to work with 2 coaches Kendra Gaines and myself to become a very competitive bowler. On October 29, 2008 at Aloma Lanes Mr. Davies shot games of 266, 258, and 279 for a very impressive 803. While shooting his series Dave hit Aloma’s  Strike Pot and Super Strike Pot for a nice little chunk of change. It is his first USBC honor score and I am proud to have drill the Brunswick BVP Sidewinder he used.

November Releases

The MaxXX Zone core uses the same inner core shape as the Smash Zone. However, the weight distribution between the inner core and outer core has been adjusted to raise the overall RG, so even with its aggressive PlaZma coverstock, the MaxXX Zone will clear the fronts and provide maximum traction in the mid and the back-ends even on the tightest lane conditions. To maximize the performance of the MaxXX Zone, Brunswick has developed the new PlaZma coverstock. PlaZma sticks to the lane and continues to traction strong when other coverstocks break loose from the lane. When combined with the MaxXX Zone core this gives an unbeatable combination to attack the oiliest lane conditions and provide unparalleled lane hugging traction and recovery.

Being a big fan of the Brunswick Smash Zone I was very excited to get my hands on this ball. Brunswick’s MaxXX Zone core uses the same inner core shape as the Smash Zone. However, the weight distribution between the inner core and outer core has been adjusted to raise the overall RG. I Drilled mine 5″ from my pap @ 45* without an extra hole and a finish of 4000 abralon and no polish. The first thing I noticed was how strong it picked up in the mid-lanes with out losing its back end punch. For me this ball is about 5 boards stronger than my Smash Zone. It gave me more area when the lanes were fresh, but as the lanes broke down I had chased the shot in and could still get the ball to recover and give strong continuous motion through the pin deck. The MaxXX Zone is a very strong yet versatile ball. When you need that little extra on tight lane conditions you should give strong consideration to this ball.

The Twisted Fury Destruction introduces Brunswick’s new XLERATOR coverstock, combining length you can count on with the back-end reaction you crave  to provide pin destructing power.
Coverstock
The new XLerator coverstock has been formulated with two main goals in mind. First, to create length through the heads, both when they’re fresh and after they’ve broken down. Second, to create a strong angular move at the breakpoint in order to provide increased pin-carrying ball reaction. The XLerator coverstock succeeds at achieving both of these goals, giving you unparalleled reaction with a ball that gets to the spot and returns hard to the pocket.

Core
Good coverstocks become great when paired with a core that accentuates their strengths. After testing a wide range of cores (both new and old designs) with the new XLerator coverstock, the core that gave the absolute best reaction was the Torsion Asymmetric Core. This core/coverstock combo make the Twisted Fury Destruction rev up hard and hug the lane without hooking early. The medium RG asymmetric design of the core then turns loose the power of the coverstock on the back-end, unleashing destructive force on the pins.

I drilled my Twisted Fury Destruction 5 1/2 from pap @45* without a weight hole. This ball was clean through the heads, but very strong and continuous through the pin deck. Although Some pearls tend to squirt and be hard to predict on the wet/dry conditions, but this one seems to grip any friction and just keep going. On our fresh house shot this ball let me play the lanes straighter with a very strong angular move towards the pin deck, but it was when the lanes broke down that this ball came to life. The destruction got through the heads as they were breaking down, but it still had a strong continuous motion and great carry. This core/cover combination are amazing together. Just feed the ball out toward friction and watch it return.Thank you Brunswick for delivering another great piece of equipment

Reviews on Brunswick’s Summer releases

The Brunswick Smash Zone

uses a Pearlized version of the EnMotion coverstock. EnMotion combines the best elements from our PowerKoil™, Activator™ and N’Control™ coverstock systems. The Brunswick Smash Zone unites EnMotion coverstock with an updated version of the original Inferno core that lowers the RGdiff to reduce problems with over flaring. Ultra-low-RG’s are known for strong mid-lane recovery moves and their controllable and continuous back-end hooking action, Brunswick has created a strong revving counterpart to the Brunswick Twisted Fury that will match-up better on lane patterns that create excessive length or over/under reaction problems for higher RG balls.

I do not think I can say enough good things about the Brunswick Smash Zone . I drilled with the pin 5 @ 45* inches from my PAP with a small hole down on the VAL. I took the ball to 4000 Abralon with no polish. This Ball is a strike machine. I drilled this ball when it was first released back in June and since then my strike percentage went through the roof. I have had Countless 700 series in my leagues and my averages are up about 20 pins from last year. This is a great ball to have in your arsenal. I give it my highest recommendation.

The Swarm combines a pearlized PowerKoil 18 coverstock with the new medium RG Honeycomb core to create a strong skid/snap ball reaction. With its pearlized surface the Swarm delivers good length on all but the driest lane conditions combined with a aggressive and angular breakpoint.

Technology
Aggressive Reactive Coverstock: PowrKoil 18 coverstock is a proven performer that has probably been on more bowling balls than any other Reactive coverstock in the bowling industry. PowrKoil 18 has been used on some of Brunswick’s most successful balls including the Danger Zone, Red Alert and BVP Nemesis. Aggressive in the oil and strong off the dry, PowrKoil 18 is a perennial favorite among all styles of bowlers.

Medium RG Honeycomb Core: The Swarm uses Brunswick’s new Multi-Sided Honeycomb Core System which incorporates a honeycomb of high and low density fillers to create an optimum medium RG match-up for length and angularity. The Swarm’s medium RG helps push the ball through the mid-lane, creating a buzz at the breakpoint that stings the pins.

The Copperhead targets one of the most popular reactions in the bowling ball industry, Reactive Solid Sanded. This type of ball reaction is embraced by many bowlers as the best all-around combination of coverstock and surface finish. Providing high hook potential with a controllable ball reactions and good pin carry.

Low RG Rocket Core: The Copperhead uses Brunswick’s Multi-Sided Rocket Core System which provides a low RG to help the ball rev-up sooner and create tremendous mid-lane recovery.

Get Twisted Again! The Twisted Fury Solid introduces EnMotion-Xtra coverstock to the Fury Line.

Coverstock
EnMotion-Xtra improves over EnMotion coverstock by increasing traction in the oil and reaction off the dry. These
qualities result in higher hook potentials, improved ability to handle heavy oil in the middle of the lane and greater
ability to handle carry down.

Core
The Twisted Fury Solid uses the same successful Torsion Asymmetric Core used in the Twisted Fury. The Torsion Asymmetric is a medium RG core that helps push the Twisted Fury Solid through the heads, saving more ball reaction for the back-ends. Brunswick has put a new twist on core design so you can twist it up better on the lanes.

I drilled my Twisted Fury Solid with the pin 5 from my PAP and smoothed the surface to 4000 abarlon. I got a chance to use this ball on the PBA Scorpion pattern and it rolled tremendous right from the start. The lanes were very tight but this ball gave me some room to play. It has been a long time since I have thrown a ball that started revving up that quickly but still had enough energy to give me some great carry.
